Overview:

  • The COVID-19 pandemic presented both challenges and opportunities to the research community that had never before been faced. Could we mobilize and respond to the greatest medical crisis of our lifetime, do so while dealing with the same concerns and restrictions as the rest of the world, and do all of it quickly and effectively enough to prevent humanity from falling over the edge? This September, Allentown partners with Dr. Cindy Buckmaster, AstraZeneca’s Donna Goldsteen, and Drs. Mikele Simkins and Laura Singer from Pfizer to present two very special journeys toward the treatments and vaccines that pulled the world back from the brink. These are stories of selflessness, sacrifice and, ultimately, success that reveal how the research community pulled off one of the biggest “saves” in medical history.

Presenters:

  • Cindy A. Buckmaster, PhD, CMAR, RLATG – Director of Public Outreach, National Animal Interest Alliance (NAIA)
  • Donna Goldsteen – Director of Animal Sciences & Technologies, AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, Gaithersburg, MD
